Spawn Bags-20 Pack
Spawn bags for sale! Mushroom Grow Bags with Filter Patches
A Mushroom Grow Bag, also known as a Spawn Bag, is an autoclavable incubation bag with a micro-porous filter that allows gas exchange but prevents the passage of contaminants. Spawn Bags are an economical substitute for canning jars. When producing bulk amounts of substrate, Spawn Bags are able to hold larger amounts of rye grain, seed, or any substrate that you may be using. To create the needed airtight seal, please use an Impulse Sealer which highly reduces the introduction of contaminates. Like any commercial spawn bag, our bags are designed to be sealed prior to sterilization.
The 0.2 micron bags measure 10″ X 8″ X 35″.
All bags are made of 0.06mm Polypropylene plastic. These bags are an industry standard size which allows them to hold more material. Widely used by mushroom growers throughout the world.
Quick tip. Spawn Bags with Filter Patches can not withstand a dry heat. Spawn bags with or without a filter should not be used in any form of dry heat. For example, an over or flame based area. Grain based spawns need both heat and pressure to properly sterilize. The use of either a pressure cooker or a steam sterilizer (also called an autoclave) is needed to kill any contaminants or microbes residing on the grain. Most will cook/sterilize grain for 1.5 to 2 full hours once 15 P.S.I. has been reached. After that time has passed, you should let the fully cooked spawn sit for at least 8 hours before inoculating.
One last quick tip. If you cook in the evening, once the cooking time has ended. You can just turn off the heat and walk away. Letting the spawn cool down overnight.
